Developing self as a health care practitioner International Summer School

The Department of Nursing and Midwifery bids farewell to 15 students from our international summer school: Developing self as a health care practitioner.  Our participants came from a broad range of disciplines including nursing, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, psychology, premed, kinesiology and physical therapy. Guided reflection and artistic forms of expression underpinned our learning approaches. Sessions explored beliefs and values in developing and transforming self and practice and included Celtic spirituality, the use of nature, caring and self-care, mindfulness and complementary therapies. Students enjoyed a visit to Milford Care Centre. They also participated in heritage trips across Ireland
